Santo Domingo Connect Bus Route
For budget-conscious travelers, public bus routes linking through Santo Domingo represent the cheapest choice. You will first take Expreso Bávaro or APTRA from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo (RD$400-RD$450). Make sure to ask the assistant to drop you near the connection terminal to Samaná.
In the capital, you can connect via Caribe Tours (terminal near Las Américas Airport) or ASOTRAPUSA (station at Barahona street near Parque Enriquillo). Tickets range from RD$400 to RD$600. The full journey spans 9 to 10 hours including urban transit and connection waits.

CRITICAL TRAVEL ADVICE
To catch your Samaná bus connection in SD, board the 5:00 am or 7:00 am Bávaro bus. PM departures will force an overnight stay in the capital.
If headed to Las Terrenas or Las Galeras, connect via ASOTRAPUSA (Parque Enriquillo). Caribe Tours only services Samaná town pier.
Always keep your passport and valuables in your carry-on. While bus cargo is safe, keep a close eye on your luggage during transfers.
